Why should you consider a Custom Saddle

The saddle is the most critical point of contact between a rider and their bike. Saddle fit can play an outsized role in overall riding experience, comfort, and performance. In the worst cases, individuals can quit cycling altogether due to saddle discomfort. Every cyclist is unique. Rider experience, sensitivity, history of injuries, body shape, riding goals, and more can all affect the way we sit on the saddle. The One-to-One customised approach directly addresses the individual comfort and performance needs of each rider.

The One-To-One Process

Pressure data captured on the selected saddle shape is used as a baseline to map out a bespoke three-dimensional padding structure that reflects a rider’s specific needs, adapting to load pattern, compensating asymmetries and hotspots, and addressing instability. Riders get the right support, right where they need it.
This pressure data is translated into printing parameters for the elastomeric lattice honeycomb structure that forms the adaptive saddle padding. The entire process can be split into 4 phases.

Phase 1: Assessment

Relevant information about the rider and their current bike setup and saddle position is gathered through a simple questionnaire. Pressure data is captured on the rider’s current bike/saddle setup in all relevant riding positions.

Phase 2: Saddle Shape

Using the rider’s data, a matching algorithm selects the most suitable saddle shape from the fizik range. Pressure is then re-measured on the rider’s bike in all key positions with the recommended saddle. Mounting guidance is given, and these new measurements form the baseline for the custom 3D-printed padding.

Phase 3: Placing Order

The rider can now select their exact saddle configuration (carbon or Kium rails) and finalise their order. The order is automatically transferred to fizik where it will be processed to create a custom saddle and shipped to the chosen address.

Phase 4: Final Check

Once the new One-to-One saddle has been received and mounted on the bike, the rider can return for a final session where pressure data will be captured on the new saddle for comparison to the initial saddle setup, highlighting all the parameters that have improved.
